You haven't missed Cheung Chau's debut as the orchestra's new music director! The opening concert of MSOC's 52nd season was postponed due to the October snowstorm. Chau conducts Beethoven's Eighth Symphony and music by Wagner, Bizet, and Bernstein. The concert will be held on Saturday, November 19th at Manchester Community College.

MSOC closes its 51st season with a Pops concert at Manchester Community College, at 7:30 PM. Lewis J. Buckley conducts his final concert as MSOC orcehstra director, sharing the podium with chorale director Kevin L. Mack. For more information, visit www.msoc.org

The Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale will be joined by singers from the Avon Old Farms School in a performance of Mendelsohn's Second Symphony, the Song of Praise (Lobgesang). Saturday, December 11th at 7:30 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 41 Park Street, Manchester, Kevin Mack conducts the Manchester Chorale. Featured works are Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, accompanied by harpist Sharon Rondeau, and Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Ralph Vaughan Williams. The Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale opens its 51st season with an orchestra concert, conducted by Lewis J. Buckley. The concert will be on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 7:30 in the SBM Foundation Auditorium, Manchester Community College, Manchester CT. Program includes Beethoven's Third Symphony (the Eroica), Glinka's Ruslan and Ludmilla Overture, and Bach's Violin Concerto No. 1, with Cynthia Knotts, MSOC's own concertmaster, as soloist.

Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale closes its fiftieth anniversay season with its Golden Jubilee Concert, on May 22nd at 7:30 PM at Manchester High School, 134 E. Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale presents a special Sunday afternoon concert on February 7th at 3:00 PM in Bailey Auditorium, Manchester High School, 134 Middle Turnpike East, Manchester.
The Manchester Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Lewis J. Buckley performs The Composer is Dead, based on a book by popular children’s author Lemony Snicket. Also on the program are Bartók’s Concerto for Viola, with soloist Andrew Tang, and Celebration, by 17-year old composer Byron Perpetua.

MSOC brings the magic of the silver screen to Manchester High School as the orchestra plays along with Laurel and Hardy in "Double Whoopie" and the chorale performs favorite movie songs. Hear all about it by listening to the podcast.
